Social bookmarking is a new trend in search engine optimization, which has achieve recognition as part of a new type of website optimization, termed “social media optimization (SMO).” Social Bookmarking also referred as “social book marketing”, the word used for bookmarking sites on the web and sharing them with friends.

There is an increasing number of websites available on the web that offers this as a free service for bookmarking your sites or blogs on the web. These sites are recognized as social bookmarking sites. Once you have created a free account, you may start adding bookmarks to your account. The benefit is that once you have bookmarked any site then you can access them from anywhere on the web, and also share them with your friends.

Search engines index these tags, as well as the link, so you are basically getting free one-way links from high-traffic sites, with all of your keywords attached to them! It is a great way to get traffic to your website. However, choosing proper tag names is significant and plays very important roles if you want to truly get social book marking to work for you in your search engine optimization process.
